Year 6Research Programme
Research & Independent Learning
Research is an important part of the Year 6 learning experience. Learners are specifically trained in research skills and are given opportunities to apply these skills to real learning tasks across different subjects.
During research lessons, learners are guided through the process of understanding a research task, developing questions, finding relevant information, using different sources, organising their findings and presenting what they have discovered.
Research assignments can then be given by teachers from different subject areas. This allows learners to practise the research skills they have been taught while developing a deeper understanding of the subjects and topics they are studying.
